How to add the gateway to the Apple Home app

Using the VELUX gateway with HomeKit enables you to control your VELUX products by a simple tap in the Apple Home app, by asking Siri or to carry out tasks automatically.  The following instructions explain how to install the gateway using the Apple Home app only (and not the VELUX ACTIVE app)

The overall procedure to install the gateway is divided into three steps:
First you add your gateway to the Home app and connect to Wi-Fi.  First you add your gateway to the Apple Home app and connect to Wi-Fi. Secondly you pair your VELUX products to your gateway. Finally, you pair your sensors and departure switches to your gateway.

1: HomeKit Setup

To add the gateway to the Home app, please do the following:

  1. Connect the gateway to power using the power cord provided.
(the LED on the back, will glow in green while the gateway is booting)

  2. Wait until the LED starts to glow in white. Now the gateway can be added to the Home app.
In case you see no white light, then press the central button marked with a “Settings” icon until the LED starts to glow in white.

  3. Add the gateway to the Home app: Open the Home app : Open the Apple Home app > select Add Accessory > scan the eight-digit HomeKit code on the back of the gateway. Automatically the gateway should appear in the Home app.

  4. Allow the gateway to connect to the same Wi-Fi your mobile device is using.

Note: If the gateway software is not up to date, then the gateway will automatically be updated after Wi-Fi connection is established. The LED will glow in green while processing the update.
Please wait until the LED starts to glow in white before moving to the next step.

2: Pairing of window, shutter and blind

Pairing of windows, shutters and blinds to the gateway, is done by the use of your existing VELUX remote control(s) used for controlling the products.

In case you control all (or some) of your products using a 2-way controller (controller providing feedback), then please follow process 2a as described below.

If you only control your products using 1-way controllers, then please go to 2b and follow this process.

You are now ready to control your VELUX product from the Apple Home app or by asking Siri.
